11/3/96 around 10 PM in Frostburg, MD. 15 minute piggyback exposure with 80 mm (aperture) Orion "ShortTube" refractor at f/5 on Fujicolor 200 film.
A small section of the image above has been enlarged and enhanced to show the jets emerging from the cometary nucleus.

July 1996
Piggyback exposure on Konica 3200 film with 300 mm telephoto lens at f/5.6. Hale-Bopp is near the upper left corner of the image, and M17 is in the lower right corner.

10 minute piggyback exposure with 300 mm lens at f5.6 on Konica 3200 film. Note movement relative to the quartet of stars in the lower right since the July 5 exposure. The comet is the fuzzy patch on the left side of the image.
