Images of Unbent Paperclips

The image below is titled "unbent1" and is an electron micrograph of an unbent paperclip. The legend of each micrograph includes (from left to right along the top line of the legend) the magnification power, the accelerating voltage in keV, the scan number, and the picture number. The next line of the legend provides a reference length that can be used to determine the dimensions of surface features on the specimen.

In this example, the paperclip has been magnified 54.2 times, the accelerating voltage was 25 keV, and the reference length was 500 um. The black substance on the paper clip is some of the conductive carbon cement that was used to mount the paperclip.
