Is silicon expensive?

I need to know how much 100 grams of silicon would cost to a regular citizen buying it. Please help me?
corinne

The price depends on the purity you require. The Acros catalog lists 100g of 99% pure Si at $36. The same amount of 99.9999% pure Si costs about $273.
